The Symphony commands attention with its distinctive sloping bench and impressive 43” width. Despite its substantial presence, this wheel remains surprisingly lightweight at just 15 pounds.

Description

When people think of spinning wheels, they often picture a large, elegant Saxony-style wheel. This style was the first in history to incorporate a treadle, allowing spinners to use both hands freely. Since its inception, it has become the wheel of fairytales and is often referred to as the “Cinderella” wheel. The Kromski Symphony beautifully embodies the timeless elegance of this classic design.

This double-treadle wheel can be used in either single-drive mode with Scotch tension or double-drive mode without it. Included with the wheel is an independently tensioned, arched lazy kate. The exquisite turnings of the Symphony’s wheel, posts, and legs showcase Kromski’s distinctive craftsmanship, while the meticulous artistry of its functional components elevates it to a true work of timeless beauty.

Jumbo Flyer kits expand a spinner’s creative possibilities in two key ways. First, the larger orifice on the jumbo flyer allows for spinning a wide range of yarns, from delicate lace-weight to super bulky art yarn. Additionally, the jumbo bobbin holds twice the capacity of a regular Kromski bobbin. A standard Kromski bobbin already offers 50% more space than most industry-standard bobbins, with a generous 4.2-ounce capacity. The jumbo bobbin doubles that, enabling longer, uninterrupted spinning sessions and skeins with greater yardage—all without the need for frequent bobbin changes!

Crafted from highly sustainable Alder wood, the Symphony spinning wheel is a testament to mindful craftsmanship. To minimise our carbon footprint and champion our local community, we source all our timber from farms within 50km of our workshop.

Alder is celebrated for its warm palette—ranging from light tan to deep reddish-brown—and its smooth, uniform texture. As we work with a living, organic material, no two pieces are ever identical.

Embracing Nature: Customers should anticipate that Unfinished (U) or Finished (F) products may have darker areas or flecks of deep reddish-brown. These are not flaws or weaknesses, but natural occurrences typical in wood. We believe these variations bring out the true, organic beauty of the wood, making every Kromski product unique.
